CASA GRANDE — Sophomore Chloe Buchanan has been named the Casa Grande Union High School District CTE student of the month.
A STEM engineering student, she attended the seventh annual Arizona SciTech Festival at the Mesa Arts Center earlier this month and was the youngest person to moderate a panel discussion at the event.
“Chloe did an awesome job moderating the discussion,” said John Morris, engineering and mathematics teacher and coach of the robotics team.
The career and technical education student is on CGUHS’s robotics team and she’s a member of the Chief Science Officers of Arizona, an organization that aims to increase student voices in school and community STEM discussions.
At the annual sci-tech conference, she led two sessions. In the first, she moderated a panel discussion about women in computer science and engineering focused on the societal barriers faced by girls and women in the tech industry.
In the second session, she gave a presentation about how robotics can be used in any classroom setting.
