The PA SEED CSO Cabinet consisted of 37 CSOs from 13 different schools for the 2020-2021 school year. During our time together, CSOs had the opportunity to connect with eleven different STEM professionals and three different higher education professionals.
These connections allowed the CSOs to learn about various post secondary opportunities and STEM careers. Some of the STEM careers were a microbiologist, software system analyst, cloud computing specialist, plant manager, conservationist and plant breeder.
Throughout the year, the CSOs worked on their action plans by interviewing STEM experts, organizing science kits, providing STEMonstrations for elementary school students, creating STEM specific morning announcements and developing science focused blogs and STEM websites. Completion of these action plans impacted not only the CSO’s schools, but their surrounding communities. Additionally, CSOs spent time networking with each other and sharing their action plan progress.
We wrapped up the year with our end of year celebration. During the celebration, we had a guest speaker facilitate a round of movie trivia focused on necessary skills for success in life. We also played some competitive rounds of virtual pictionary. The CSOs shared their successes, challenges and impacts from their action plans with each other and with other supporters of the CSO Program.
Even though we had to keep everything virtual, the year was a tremendous success!
